Keep the air moving and the damp out. Tuck in a few moisture absorbers, silica gel or dehumidifier pouches, and resist packing clothes so tightly that air cannot circulate between them. Opening the doors now and then releases any humidity that has built up inside.

About 22 inches inside. That gives hangers room to hang straight without the doors pressing on your clothes. Standard wardrobe depth runs 22 to 24 inches for exactly this reason.

It depends on the floor space in front. Sliding doors need no clearance to open, which is ideal in a small bedroom. Hinged doors swing wide for full access to the interior, but they require 20 to 24 inches of clear floor to open into.
